Dental Bridge
Have you lost teeth? You can have the problem repaired, with a dental bridge, in Thousand Oaks. The Thousand Oaks cosmetic dentist specializes in creating Dental Bridges to: restore smiles, maintain facial shape, improve your ability to speak clear, properly adjust bite force, and keep remaining teeth from shifting.
The three types of dental bridges are traditional, cantilever, and resin bonded bridges. A traditional bridge is formed using two crowns with a false tooth, or pontic, in the middle. Traditional bridges are most commonly formed from ceramics or a fusion of porcelain and metal.
The Thousand Oaks restorative dentist uses a cantilever bridge when there are teeth on only one side of the missing tooth. The final type of bridge is a resin bonded bridge. This type of bridge is a series of plastic teeth and gums created over a metal framework. A resin bonded bridge is attached, by metal wings, to normal teeth.
Our local dentist in Thousand Oaks also specializes in creating beautiful smiles and repairing the damages made to the teeth or restoring missing teeth. Please call Thousand Oaks Dental Practice to make an appointment today.
Thousand Oaks Bridge Dentist
The dental bridge procedure usually takes 2 office visits to complete. Depending on the patient, subsequent visits to check for proper fit and bite may be required. During the first visit, the dentist will prepare the teeth adjacent to the missing tooth, also known as the abutment teeth. Preparation of the abutment teeth requires some enamel to be removed in order to fit a crown. Once the dentist is satisfied with the amount of enamel removed, an impression of the teeth will be made for the dental laboratory.
While the lab is making a permanent bridge, the dentist will put a temporary bridge in its place to protect vulnerable teeth and gums. At the second visit, the temporary bridge is removed and the permanent bridge is adjusted for proper fit. The permanent bridge may be temporarily adhered in place, for a few weeks, to ensure proper fitting. Once the dentist is satisfied with the fit, the bridge will then be permanently cemented in place.
It is the goal of Thousand Oaks dental practice to help you become suited to the new you. Adjusting to a dental bridge is quick and relatively easy. Eating with a bridge will be much easier than eating with a missing tooth. As with many cosmetic dental procedures, it is important to practice good oral hygiene to keep the bridge functioning as it is intended.
